Job description

The Postdoctoral Research Fellowship is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) and is associated with the project GOODATTENTION. This position is specifically connected to subproject 1, which studies the function of attention in our cognitive architecture, and what natural norms of attention, if any, may be derived from it (we investigate the biological function of attention both from an etiological and a systemic perspective). See here for some more details about this subproject and its relation to GOODATTENTION as a whole. The candidate is expected to present a research project closely connected to this subproject. The candidate is expected to have expertise in the philosophy of biology, philosophy of cognitive science, and/or the philosophy of linguistics. Experience with collaborations within cognitive psychology, neuroscience, biology, and/or linguistics will be considered positively. More about the position The candidate will be situated in a strong, lively and supportive research environment, both at the GOODATTENTION project itself, the related SalientSolutions project, as well as relevant research groups, such as the Oslo Mind Group, or the Centre for Philosophy and the Sciences. The applicant is expected to develop a project description, which must be submitted as a part of the application. The candidate will have the opportunity also to make use of the international advisory board associated with GOODATTENTION, for research interactions, research visits, or other forms of collaboration. The position is available for a period of 2 years. The successful candidate is expected to become part of the research environment/network of the department and contribute to its development. The main purpose of postdoctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines. Requirements
