Assistant Professor of Philosophy (EXPIRED)

The Department of Philosophy at Seattle University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, with specialization in Philosophy and Psychology. Areas of competence are open. This position is a dual appointment with the Department of Psychology.

The ideal candidate will specialize in areas of philosophy that lie at the intersection of the two disciplines and will be able to make substantive contributions to both departments’ programs. In addition, they will have a strong background in the general history of philosophy, demonstrated teaching excellence, strong scholarly potential, some familiarity with the Catholic intellectual tradition, and the ability to engage with colleagues representing diverse philosophical and psychological traditions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of courses across the curriculum, including the two required philosophy core courses (Philosophy of the Human Person and Ethics) and courses for the Philosophy and Psychology majors. They will maintain a productive research program and will provide service to the departments, school, and university. Ph.D. in Philosophy by September 2022 and some formal training in Psychology are required.
