University of St. Thomas Assistant or Associate Professor Philosophy The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, located in Houston, Texas, near the vibrant central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is seeking applicants for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor position in the Department of Philosophy and the Center for Thomistic Studies. This position reports directly to the Department Chair. Summary: Areas of Specialization: Open. Candidates must have facility with the Latin texts of St. Thomas Aquinas. Areas of Concentration: Open. Submission deadline for full consideration: November 30, 2021 Position begins August 2022. 3/2 course load. Ph.D. required. This position will involve teaching at least one graduate course per year and dissertation supervision. Undergraduate teaching load: 3 or 4 courses per year, including university core courses. University, Department, and Center service are also required. Areas of specialization and concentration are open, but among areas that might serve the Center's needs are history of philosophy, Arabic philosophy, political philosophy, logic, philosophy of language, and philosophy of science. Applications should address applicant's knowledge and support of the Thomistic tradition and of the mission of Catholic higher education in light of Ex Corde Ecclesiae and Fides et Ratio. Applications for this position should include the following materials: a letter of interest, transcripts, a statement concerning the mission of Catholic higher education in light of Ex Corde Ecclesiae and Fides et Ratio, curriculum vitae, a writing sample, evidence of undergraduate teaching excellence and ability to teach as needed in online modalities, and three letters of reference submitted by recommenders.
