Post Doctoral Research Fellow (EXPIRED)

Grade 7: Salary in the range of £33,309 - £40,927 p.a.

Applications are invited for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Philosophy to conduct research for the Global Priorities Institute, under the supervision of Professor Hilary Greaves (Director of the Institute). The Fellow will conduct research in line with the research agenda of the Global Priorities Institute, which can be found at http://globalprioritiesinstitute.org.

The post is fixed-term from the date of appointment for four years, and is anticipated to start September 2022 (flexible). The Fellow will be based at the Global Priorities Institute’s office at Trajan House in central Oxford. The Global Priorities Institute is part of the Faculty of Philosophy.

Research will include producing publications to be submitted to journals, as book chapters and as internal reports. The Fellow will also participate in related activities, such as contributing new ideas for research projects, assisting in shaping the research agenda, and both attending and presenting at internal seminars and working groups.

The applicant is required to have a PhD awarded or close to completion. The PhD should be either in Philosophy or in a closely related discipline and combined with equivalent experience and expertise in Philosophy. Also essential are outstanding academic ability, and an excellent record of publications. In addition, the fellow must possess sufficient specialist knowledge of and a genuine interest in global priorities research.

We welcome applications from researchers simultaneously applying to tenure track jobs (or equivalent) who might complete a one or two year postdoc at GPI before giving their notice early and taking up a faculty position. We particularly encourage applications from women, black and ethnic minority candidates, as these groups are underrepresented in philosophy in general and at GPI in particular.
