Postdoctoral Research Assistant (EXPIRED)

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Reading seeks applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work for two years on an interdisciplinary research project funded by the John Templeton Foundation, entitled ‘Mistakes in Living Systems: A New Conceptual Framework for the Study of Purpose in Biology’.

The project will be conducted within the larger, multi-year, multi-million-pound research program funded by the Foundation, involving research teams in various countries: 'Agency, Directionality and Function: Foundations for a Science of Purpose'. (See www.biologicalpurpose.org.)

The Fellow will conduct research within a small interdisciplinary team of philosophers and scientists, led by Prof. David Oderberg as Principal Investigator. The team will work within a cluster of teams researching related topics, thus giving valuable opportunities for collaboration.

The position is for a fixed period of 2 years from 1 January 2022 until 31 December 2023.
