Job Description: The Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies at Louisiana State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position that begins Fall 2022. Area of Specialization: Ethics and Value Theory Area of Competence: one or more of the following: Ethics of A.I., Philosophy of Technology, Bioethics The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active record of publication and to teach two courses per semester (four courses per year). Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Philosophy prior to appointment. Research specialization in Ethics and evidence of ability to teach advanced undergraduate (and graduate) courses in the same. Ability to contribute to LSU Ethics Institute programming and grant-writing. Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of effective undergraduate teaching Evidence of ability and strong interest in teaching a diverse classroom. Publications (including articles under review) An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check. We have a substantial Masters’ Program and a steadily increasing number of philosophy majors, and minors, many of whom are drawn to the Law, Ethics and Social Justice (LESJ) concentration.
