Job description

The School of Nursing and Center for Global Health Ethics at Duquesne University invite applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position, beginning either in the fall or spring semester of 2022 (either August or January 2022 start). The position involves a joint appointment with 75% in the School of Nursing and 25% in the Center for Global Health Ethics in the McAnulty College of Liberal Arts, with primary appointment in the School of Nursing. We seek a candidate with strong teaching ability and significant scholarly promise. The appointed candidate will teach courses in nursing ethics and healthcare ethics at all levels and advise and supervise Ph.D. students in the Center for Global Health Ethics and the Ph.D. program in Nursing Ethics.

COVID-19 Condition of Employment:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (e.g. nursing, philosophy, healthcare ethics/bioethics, etc.) with specialization in nursing ethics and/or healthcare ethics, by date of appointment.
  • A record or significant promise of high-quality scholarship in nursing ethics and/or healthcare ethics.
  • Interest in and ability to develop and teach ethics courses of relevance to the practice of future and current nurses, including online courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • A record of successful teaching at the university or college level.
