Definite Term Lecturer (EXPIRED)

The Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Waterloo invites applications for a three-year Definite Term Lecturer position, with a start date of July 1, 2022. This position involves teaching seven undergraduate courses per academic year in the fall, winter, and spring terms (80% of the appointment) and various service and administrative responsibilities (20% of the appointment). The area of specialization is open, but the department has particular teaching needs in the following areas: ethics of Artificial Intelligence, biomedical ethics, cognitive science, epistemology, Indigenous philosophy, and philosophy of race.

Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching in one or more of the listed areas, experience liaising with university faculty and staff, and familiarity with diverse groups of students will be assets. Applicants must have a PhD in Philosophy or an equivalent discipline, or be able to demonstrate that they can meet the requirements for the PhD by July 1, 2022.

The salary range for this position at the rank of Lecturer is $70,000 to $100,000. The closing date for applications is December 6, 2021.
