Job description

The Department of Philosophy at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position that will begin July 1, 2022.  Area of Specialization: Social and Political Philosophy. Area of Competence: Philosophy of Law. PhD in Philosophy preferred, ABD considered.
 
Wheaton College provides students a transformative education with its innovative, liberal arts Compass curriculum. We seek a colleague who is committed to teaching and mentoring undergraduates, and who shares the department’s commitment to fostering inclusion and diversity in teaching, service, and research. The 3/2 teaching responsibilities (5 courses per year) include an introductory course in Social and Political Philosophy and an advanced course in Contemporary Social and Political Philosophy. Additional teaching responsibilities include intermediate courses in Philosophy that complement current course offerings in the department, and which might meet needs in other departments or in interdisciplinary programs such as Legal Studies or others. Research and publication are supported by a fully-paid pre-tenure sabbatical and access to funds for travel and research.
