Job description |
The School of Arts & Humanities at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for the Marvin and Kathleen Stone Distinguished Professorship of Humanities in Medicine and Science. Preference for this endowed professorship will be given to a tenured scholar at the rank of professor with a demonstrated record of excellence in scholarship and teaching on the ways that values, culture, and ethics interact with medicine and science. We are particularly interested in a scholar whose research or teaching includes the intersections of philosophy of race and science or medicine, or the metaphysics and epistemology of race. We seek candidates with a strong record of public engagement, public service, or socially relevant research or teaching. The successful candidate will be appointed in the History and Philosophy Track of the School of Arts & Humanities with an affiliation with the Center for Values in Medicine, Science and Technology. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in philosophy and advising students in the History of Ideas PhD program. Review of applications will begin on February 20, 2022, but the position will remain open until filled.
