Job Description:

The Philosophy program at Wittenberg University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Philosophy to begin August 2022. Wittenberg is committed to attracting and retaining highly qualified individuals who collectively reflect the diversity of our student body and society at-large.  We seek a candidate whose scholarly interests involve critical reflection on social justice and diversity, applied ethics, and the history of ethics and social/political philosophy.  Teaching competency in one or more of the following is also desirable: feminist philosophy; bioethics and public health ethics; environmental philosophy; early modern philosophy.  Beyond their contributions to the undergraduate philosophy curriculum, the person hired will teach courses in Wittenberg's First Year Seminar (on rotation), which is part of Wittenberg's Connections Curriculum. Ideally, the position would also contribute to one or more of the college's interdisciplinary programs: Gender, and Sexuality Studies (Womyn's Center); International Studies (Global Connections); Justice, Law and Public Policy, and Environmental Studies.  Teaching load is 3/3.

Requirements:

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Philosophy or a closely-related discipline completed by August of 2022 and interest in teaching in the liberal arts and sciences context. ABD candidates will also be considered.
