Assistant or Associate Professor (EXPIRED)

The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for the position of Associate/ Assistant Professor in Western Philosophy.The area of specialism is open; however, the department has teaching needs in the History of Western Philosophy, Ethics, Political Philosophy, Aesthetics and Critical Thinking. Competence in one or more of these areas would be an advantage.

The academic staff of the recently established UM Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies comprise an international team of renowned and innovative senior and junior scholars. The department participates actively in the University-wide General Education programme and offers PhD supervision across the range of the department’s expertise in both Eastern and Western philosophical and religious traditions and methodologies.

Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD in Philosophy, or in a related area and are expected to have an international research profile and strong publication record, commensurate with their career stage, in their area of research expertise within Western Philosophy. Applicants should also have an excellent record of tertiary teaching and supervision experience, again commensurate with their career stage. Fluency in English is expected and fluency in Chinese would be an advantage.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in January 2023.
