Job description

The Philosophy Department at Gonzaga University invites applications for a one-year full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position, for the 2022-23 academic year. AOS/AOC: open. Gonzaga's core curriculum includes Reasoning (PHIL 101), Philosophy of Human Nature (PHIL 201), and Ethics (PHIL 301). Applicants should be prepared to teach some combination of 101 and either 201 or 301. Teaching load: 24 credits/year. 

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Philosophy 
  • At least one year of teaching experience. 
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness. 
  • Evidence of active scholarly engagement. 
  • Willingness to adopt inclusive course design and teaching strategies. 
  • Willingness to contribute to the mission of Gonzaga University:www.gonzaga.edu/About/Mission/MissionStatement.asp

Job Duties

  • Teach four courses per semester, with primary responsibility in PHIL 101/Reasoning. Applicants should also be prepared to teach PHIL 201/Human Nature and PHIL 301/Ethics.
