Lecturer in Philosophy

School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics (HAPP)

Ref: 22/109971

Duration: Fixed Term 12 months, or available until 31/08/2023, whichever is sooner

Hours: Part-time

Salary: £37,467 - £51,799 per annum

Philosophy at Queen’s University Belfast is a small but dynamic and pluralist unit located within the School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy, and Politics, with research strengths in ethics, history of philosophy, and epistemology. It is seeking to appoint a fixed-term lecturer (0.75FTE, 12 months) for the 2022-23 academic year, to provide teaching cover for a leave of absence. The person appointed will be expected to play an active role in the School’s research and teaching activities, including convening and teaching undergraduate level modules in both metaphysics and philosophy of religion / philosophical theology.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:

  • Hold a philosophy PhD or equivalent
  • A proven record of high-quality research in philosophy and of the ability to produce philosophy publications of an international standard commensurate with career stage
  • Demonstrable evidence of high-quality teaching in philosophy
  • Ability to teach both metaphysics and philosophy of religion / philosophical theology at UG level.

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
