Applications are invited for the post of a

postdoctoral researcher (m/f/d, 75% employment, Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L*)

in the Department of Philosophy, working with Prof. Dr. Klaus Corcilius. This vacancy is connected to the award of an ERC Advanced Grant, entitled "TIDA – Text and Idea of Aristotle's Science of Living Things", for the period 2022-27. The project will be based at the University of Tübingen. In total, the group will consist of five postdoctoral researchers, one PhD student, student assistants, and guest researchers. The principal activity of the postdoctoral researcher will be to undertake research in

Aristotle's theory of the soul and living things, and on the impact of Aristotle's physical theory on his treatment of the phenomena of the mental in particular.

A solid background and experience, including a PhD in a relevant discipline, is required:

- Ancient Philosophy
– Philosophy of Mind
– Classics

The successful applicant is expected to engage in the collaborative efforts of the project and invited to teach in their area of specialisation at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Tübingen (teaching load 2 hours per week / semester, not mandatory).

The period of employment will be for 3 years, ideally beginning in October 2022. The holder of the position will be subject to one interim evaluation after 12 months.
