Senior Research Fellow Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities (‘WEH’) (EXPIRED)

Applications are invited for a full-time Senior Research Fellow position to conduct research in practical ethics for the Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities (‘WEH’). The post is fixed term until 31 March 2024. The Fellow will work under the joint supervision of Professor Ilina Singh and Professor Julian Savulescu, Co-Principal Investigators for WEH, with Professor Roger Crisp.  The Fellow will be located at WEH (Big Data Institute, Headington) and the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics in central Oxford.   The Fellow will conduct advanced collaborative and independent research in applied ethics on themes of interest to WEH with a particular emphasis on issues at the intersection of ethics, philosophy, psychology and psychiatry. The position will focus on ‘Practical Ethics of Flourishing, Moral Development and Autonomy’. The successful candidate will have received the degree of PhD (or equivalent qualification) in philosophy or ethics with a specialisation in applied ethics, and demonstrated research experience in mental health, psychology or psychiatry. Also essential is an outstanding research record and the ability to work as part of a collaborative research team, including across disciplines.The Fellow will form an active part of a vibrant research centre and while the main focus is research, will play a vital role in the centre’s other activities, which include outreach and public engagement.   Applications must be made online via the University jobs website (vacancy ID: 158190) where further particulars for the post are available.   Applications are to be submitted no later than midday (UK time) on 1 September 2022
