POSITION SUMMARY:

Summary: The selected applicant will join the faculty who carry a long and proud tradition of highly acclaimed teaching and research in core areas of philosophy. We are seeking candidates with a commitment to excellence in scholarly research, teaching, and professional service. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in the Philosophy of Science.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Duties: The selected candidate will teach four classes per academic year at the undergraduate and graduate level; advise graduate students; hold office hours; grade exams; conduct and publish scholarly research; perform university and professional service, as appropriate. Teaching will also involve mentoring of PhD student research and directing dissertations. Perform department, university, and community service as appropriate for faculty at the rank of Full, Assistant or Associate Professor.

DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION:

Ph.D. or the equivalent in Philosophy required prior to start of appointment.

AREA OF COMPETENCE: Open

QUALIFICATIONS:

Assistant professor candidates must show evidence of outstanding teaching and research potential and must be willing to teach upper and lower-level courses on a regular basis.

Associate and full professor candidates must, in addition to the above, have a distinguished record of philosophical research.
