Job description

The Philosophy Program in the Department of Communication Studies and Philosophy at Utah State University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Philosophy starting in August of 2022. The position is tenure-track, academic-year, 9-month, full-time, with full benefits, and teaching intensive (three courses per semester). At the time of tenure and promotion candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, and effectiveness in both research and service.

Responsibilities: Teach three courses each fall semester and each spring semester; engage in research and general scholarship, whether professional or public-oriented; engage in service at the university, in the community, and in academic philosophy. Qualifications: 

Minimum Qualifications:

●      PHD in philosophy by May 2023

●      Area of specialization in philosophy of science

●      Areas of competence in epistemology, metaphysics

●      Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching

Preferred Qualifications:

●     Active interest in publicly engaged philosophy

●      Dedication to teaching a wide range of students and a demonstrated commitment to their success, with a particular focus on supporting the access mission of a land-grant institution
