Assistant Professor - Department Philosophy and Religion The Department of Philosophy and Religion at James Madison University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Non-Western Philosophy at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning Fall of 2023. The hiring for this position aligns with the College of Arts and Letters’ commitment to diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism. We particularly encourage applications from candidates whose teaching and research intersect with the College of Arts and Letters’ programs in African, African American, and Diaspora Studies (AAAD), Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean Studies (LAXC), and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS). Duties and Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities are a 3/3 load with an upper-level class and teaching in General Education. Candidates should show potential for excellence in research and teaching. Qualifications: Qualified candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Philosophy and a demonstrated ability to teach Critical Thinking. Candidates should demonstrate a preparedness to teach a range of upper-level classes in Non-Western Philosophy or other underrepresented philosophical traditions. The Department of Philosophy and Religion at James Madison University is a pluralistic department. We have faculty members who work in Analytic, Continental, and Pragmatic traditions. We are looking to expand the range of courses we teach.
