Job Description: The Department of Philosophy at SUNY Oneonta invites applications for a Lecturer position beginning August 2013. This is a non-tenure track position with an initial appointment of one year. Expectations include teaching and continuing professional development. The Philosophy Department at SUNY Oneonta has a tradition of scholarship and teaching across a wide range of philosophical traditions. The Department typically carries 30-40 majors and sponsors a prestigious undergraduate philosophy conference. Duties include but not limited to: teaching seven courses over the course of the year; participation in program and course assessment. Requirements: Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent at time of appointment with an open area of specialization; area of competence in Ethics, Applied Ethics and three of the following: Critical Thinking, Bioethics and Medical Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy, Islamic or Asian Philosophy, or Feminist Philosophy. Preferred: college level teaching experience, experience working with diverse populations and/or teaching pedagogies and/or multicultural teaching experience.
