Job Summary

The Department of Philosophy and Humanities in the College of Liberal Arts, the University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications for an Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track.

Area of Specialization:  Epistemology or Ethics

Areas of Competence:  Epistemology and Ethics (including Biomedical Ethics)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to research and teaching in Philosophy, the occupant of the position will be expected to take an active role in the development of the department’s Medical Humanities program. The teaching load is generally 3-2. 

Required Qualifications

Required qualifications include a PhD in Philosophy with a specialization in Epistemology or Ethics, and demonstrated competence in Epistemology and Ethics, including Biomedical Ethics. 

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include considerable teaching experience and an interest in teaching or developing courses in Data Epistemology (to include Philosophy of Probabilistic Reasoning, Philosophy and Psychology of Inference, Bayesian Philosophy of Science), Medical Epistemology, and Epistemic Justice.  Other desirable qualifications include competence in Asian Philosophy or some other area of Non-Western Philosophy or Latin American Philosophy.   An interest in potential collaborations with the Department of Psychology’s Center for Internet Psychology and Persuasion is also a plus.
