Description

The Department of Philosophy in the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma is seeking an outstanding philosopher to occupy the Kingfisher College Chair in the Philosophy of Religion and Ethics. We anticipate that the appointment will be made at the rank of full professor with tenure. Advanced associate professors or full professors are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a strong publication record in philosophy of religion or ethics. The typical teaching load is 3 courses per year and involves teaching B.A., M.A., and PhD students.

The successful candidate will become a central member of a vibrant intellectual community that prizes the ability to converse across philosophical traditions and sub-disciplines and values interdisciplinary engagement. We are especially interested in applications from qualified candidates who are committed to practicing philosophy in a cooperative mode and to achieving rigor and excellence in their research and teaching. Qualifications

Required qualifications

  • A PhD in philosophy or a related discipline.
  • An outstanding record of research in philosophy of religion or ethics.

Preferred qualifications

We prefer candidates with the following qualifications:

  • An ability to contribute to the department’s curriculum beyond the candidate’s core research area.
  • A demonstrated commitment to pedagogical approaches that foster the success of students from varied levels of preparation.
