Job description

(Level B) $102,952 to $121,779 per annum plus an employer contribution of up to 17% superannuation may apply.

We are seeking a specialist in ethics, with experience in applied or professional ethics. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and coordinating undergraduate coursework in ethics, and will contribute to Masters coursework in the ethics of AI. They will have a track record of research publication in high quality outlets, and experience of/willingness to undertake research with a focus on interdisciplinary projects and public engagement. Areas of strength might include: the ethics of AI and technology; environmental ethics; global ethics and justice; the ethics of race and gender; ethical theory; or moral psychology.  

To be successful you will need: 

  • A PhD in Philosophy.
  • Experience teaching applied, normative, or professional ethics. 
  • A track-record of high quality research publication. Area(s) of research specialisation in applied or normative ethics, including ethics of AI and technology; environmental ethics; global ethics and justice; the ethics of race and gender; or ethical theory. 
  • Experience in developing and coordinating undergraduate and Masters coursework
  • The ability to supervise Honours and Postgraduate research projects.
  • Strong potential for success in competitive external grant funding applications.
