Job description |
Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business seeks applications for a term teaching position in Ethics. MSB employs an innovative, experiential pedagogy in its ethics courses that is embodied in two semester long projects that our students are required to complete: the Business Project and the Ethics Project. Our required ethics course, Ethical Values of Business, employs the Business Project in which students work in groups to create their own fictitious businesses and resolve ethical dilemmas custom designed for each business. Our other ethics courses employ the Ethics Project in which students work in groups to devise a plan to do good and execute that plan in the real world. We seek a dynamic classroom teacher who can easily adapt to this form of pedagogy. Our first priority for this position is teaching ability. This is a teaching position that is evaluated primarily on the basis of classroom performance. A successful research agenda is a plus and will be taken into consideration, but will not be the determinative factor. This is a three year term position that is potentially renewable beginning in August of 2023. The position carries a 2/3 teaching load. We welcome applications from those with a PhD in hand in a normative discipline such as philosophy, political science, public policy, and social psychology. Applicants should provide 1) a CV 2) a cover letter explaining the applicant’s interest in the position and detailing why he or she is well-qualified to undertake this type of teaching, and 3) evidence of teaching ability. Please send these materials to [email protected]. Deadline for applications is January 31. Georgetown University is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer fully dedicated to achieving a diverse faculty and staff. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply and will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, sex, sexual orientation, age, religion, national origin, marital status, veteran status, disability or other categories protected by law. |
