The Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Salzburg seeks applications for a three-and-a-half year (42 months) position as a doctoral student. The post is made available through the FWF funded project ‘The Source View on the Right to Privacy’ (P 36226-G), starting in September 2023. The project members are Dr Leonhard Menges (PI), a postdoc, and the to-be-hired doctoral student. The main focus of the project is the right to privacy. The relevant AOS is ethics (broadly construed) or political philosophy. The annual salary is € 32,204.20 as detailed in the “Kollektivvertrag für die ArbeitnehmerInnen der Universitäten”. The starting date is 1 September 2023 (or as soon as possible thereafter). The main tasks of the appointee will be research on the themes of the project (or closely related areas) that will result in a doctoral thesis and the organization of workshops (together with the other project members). The appointee will also have the opportunity to teach. The successful candidate will have an M.A. (or equivalent) in philosophy when the project starts. Knowledge of German is not required. We especially encourage members of underrepresented groups to apply. The appointee will join a vibrant philosophy community of permanent members of staff as well as postdocs, Ph.D. students and visiting scholars. There is a regular colloquium with international speakers as well as various other activities such as workshops, conferences, and reading groups. The project members will closely collaborate with the Salzburg Responsibility Group (https://responsibilitysalzburg.plus.ac.at/). Reference letters may be required at a later stage. The closing date for applications is 31 January 2023. Interviews will be held in March 2023. Contact for informal inquiries: Dr Leonhard Menges (leonhardDOTmengesATplusDOTacDOTat). |
