Position: Assistant Professor of Philosophy - 3/4-Time Temporary

Description:

Applicants are invited for this position in the Department of Philosophy and Religion Studies. Primary responsibilities will include the teaching of an undergraduate course in the Philosophy of Science (2 sections per semester), as well as courses in Philosophy of Medicine, Biomedical Ethics, and/or Modern and Contemporary World Philosophy. Three courses per semester.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Philosophy required, with specialization in Philosophy of Science, and strong competence in the Philosophy of Medicine, Biomedical Ethics, and history of modern and contemporary philosophy. Excellent teaching and communication skills, commitment to undergraduate education, some scholarly activity.

Starting Date: September 1, 2013

The Department of Philosophy and Religion Studies offers a major in philosophy and religion, a minor in philosophy, a minor in philosophy and religion studies, a concentration in ethics, a concentration in bioethics and the philosophy of medicine, and a concentration in philosophy and religion studies. The department also serves nearly every major program on campus and is central to Rowan's liberal arts curriculum.
