Applications are invited for a one-year, fixed-term Stipendiary Lecturership in Philosophy, tenable from 1 October 2013. This particular appointment is to fulfil teaching needs. Candidates, who should have a strong research record, should be able to offer teaching in one or more of the following areas: Ancient Philosophy, Post-Kantian Philosophy, or Political Theory/Moral Philosophy. The successful candidate will be expected to assist with the first-year course in Philosophy, excluding Logic.
The successful candidate will be appointed to a one-year, fixed-term Stipendiary Lecturership at St Hilda’s College. The appointee will be required to provide a combined total of eight hours of tutorial teaching per week, averaged over the three terms in the academic year, and to participate in the pastoral care of students and the administration of degree courses involving Philosophy within the College, including admissions and marking college examinations. In addition, the person appointed may be invited to give one or more series of lectures for the Faculty of Philosophy, payment for which would be additional to the advertised salary. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership of the Philosophy Faculty. No salaried University post is associated with this Lecturership. Candidates should have a strong educational background, with a good first degree, and should be working for, or have already obtained, a doctorate in Philosophy. Some teaching experience is essential. The salary for the post will be £16,347 - £18,385. Membership of the Universities’ Superannuation Scheme (USS) is offered.
