Adjunct (EXPIRED)

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Part-time instructor to teach online Introduction to Philosophy (Phil 101). Successful candidates will teach basic critical thinking skills and use a topical/big ideas rather than historical figure/primary texts approach to inviting student to the study of philosophy. Though emphasis is on the western canon, candidates must have the ability to teach a diversity of philosophical perspectives. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Appropriate master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
• Ability to tailor teaching style and methods to community college students and work cooperatively with diverse groups.
• Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Good computer software skills - Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, etc., Outlook E-mail and Calendar, and strong Internet familiarity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree in Education.
• Community college teaching experience.
• Familiarity with Pearson Learning Studio as a course delivery system.

COMPENSATION: Competitive salary will be based on degree and credit hours taught.
