Austin College’s Department of Philosophy invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy for the 2023-2024 academic year. This is a one-year position. The area of specialization is ethics or social and political philosophy, and the candidate should have their Ph.D. in hand by August 2023. In addition to teaching a course or courses in social and political philosophy, the candidate should be able to courses in applied ethics in such areas as public health, media, business, medicine, and the environment. The teaching load is three courses in the fall, three courses in the spring, and one course during January Term. The candidate must have strong commitments to innovative teaching in a liberal arts environment and to encouraging diversity in the classroom. The candidate should explain how their teaching and research relate to the Austin College liberal arts curriculum, its general degree requirements, and its writing requirements. Austin College is a leading national independent liberal arts college located north of Dallas in Sherman, Texas.
