Job description

Philosophy: Description: Assistant Professor of Philosophy Starting date: September 1, 2013. Position Description: The Department of History, Political Science and Religious Studies seeks applicants for a tenure track position in Philosophy with AOS in Asian philosophy and AOC in the history of philosophy in the analytic tradition. Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications. Qualifications: Candidate must have a master's degree in philosophy or allied field plus all coursework completed towards Ph.D. Responsibilities: Teaching load is 12 credits (3 courses) per semester, with usual departmental, college, and university service. Teaching responsibilities in philosophy include Introduction to Philosophy, World Philosophy. Teaching responsibilities also include courses in religious studies depending on qualifications. Some portion of teaching load must be in the core general education curriculum: Freshman Cultural Seminar or Senior Global Perspectives Colloquium, as well as cross cultural experience courses. The Assistant Professor of Philosophy is expected to contribute to the Religious Studies program and the multidisciplinary major in Philosophy Politics and Economics (PPE) and will also contribute to the cross cultural component of Carroll's general education program. The University: Founded in 1846, Carroll University is an independent, co-educational, comprehensive university grounded in the liberal arts tradition. Carroll University is located in suburban Waukesha, 16 miles west of Milwaukee and 60 miles east of Madison. The University serves approximately 3,570 full-time and part-time students. The University, though intentionally ecumenical and non-sectarian in approach, is related to the Presbyterian church, USA, employs a full-time chaplain and provides a spiritual program.
