Title: Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor – Philosophy Compensation: $52,000 - $57,000; 9-month contract paid over 12 months, full benefits The College of Arts & Sciences at Saint Martin’s University is hiring a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor in Philosophy to create and teach exciting, relevant courses for our CORE program; to initiate a group of classes for an existing minor in Philosophy; and to serve as an allied department to Theology and Religious Studies. The successful candidate will be qualified to teach introductory classes in the Western tradition from the Greeks to the twenty-first century, and in an area of their own interest. The candidate will be both fully and critically conversant with the Catholic philosophical tradition, as well as appreciative of the multiple philosophical points of entry to that historical tradition in dialogue with modernity/contemporary thought. The candidate will also demonstrate an openness to non-Western philosophies, with a commitment to finding ways to diversify readings and philosophical traditions. Position Expectations: Excellence in teaching is central Saint Martin’s University. The candidate should demonstrate the ability or potential to teach dynamically and draw enthusiasm from non-majors and majors alike; to have a creditable scholarly agenda; and to be prepared to work with colleagues across the university in the shared governance of our educational enterprise. Professors are expected to understand and respect the mission of our Catholic Benedictine school and to contribute to the broad liberal education of the students across the university. Required Qualifications:
