The School of Social Sciences (SOSS), Singapore Management University, invites applications for a non-tenure-track (education track) position at the assistant professor rank to teach Analytical Skills, which is a university core course on critical thinking. It may be possible to teach some other courses in Philosophy.

The position requires a doctorate in Philosophy and teaching experience at tertiary level. We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated excellent teaching ability, as well as a good research background. 

The primary responsibility of an education track faculty is teaching undergraduate students. The normal teaching load is six course sections per academic year, which is approximately nine hours of teaching per week for each semester. In addition to teaching, the candidate is also expected to engage in pedagogical research and perform internal service activities such as curriculum design and review.

The research support is excellent, salary and benefits are highly competitive.  Classes are capped at no more than 45 students.

Full evaluation of applications will start from 10 June 2013. Interviews for short-listed candidates are likely to be conducted in July 2013. The successful candidate will be expected to start at Singapore Management University in January 2014.
