Job Summary:
The Department of Philosophy and Comparative Religion at Cleveland State University invites applications for a one-year appointment as Visiting Assistant College Lecturer beginning August 21, 2023, and ending May 15, 2024. Area of Specialization: Open; Area of Competence: Technology Ethics, Applied Ethics. CSU is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. CSU is striving to be a nationally recognized and student focused public research institution that provides accessible, affordable, and Engaged Learning opportunities for all.

Duties will consist of teaching four courses per semester including Data Ethics, Engineering Ethics, as well as other applied ethics courses such as Health Care Ethics, and engaging in normal department service. The applicant should speak to their ability to teach these courses in the letter of application.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Philosophy by July 1, 2023;
  • Evidence of teaching experience; and
  • Ability to teach Data Ethics, Engineering Ethics, and Health Care Ethics.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Philosophy; and
  • Evidence of teaching achievement, especially with respect to applied ethics courses such as Data Ethics or Engineering Ethics.


Salary commensurate with qualifications.
