Position Summary: The Department of Philosophy and Religion at Rollins College invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor of philosophy position beginning August 2023. AOS: History of Modern Philosophy, Philosophy of Science, and Philosophy of Mind (in the analytic tradition). AOC: logic and language. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, preferably in the liberal arts environment. He/she will be joining a dynamic department, and should be able to relate well with students and help us to recruit students into our classes and the major. Teaching responsibilities will include a course in the History of Modern Philosophy; Introduction to Formal Logic; Introduction to Philosophy; an advanced course each in Philosophy of Mind and Philosophy of Science; and additional courses in the candidate's area(s) of specialization at introductory and advanced levels. The teaching load is 4/4. This role will also be expected to participate in the College's interdisciplinary general education curriculum. Ph.D. in philosophy is required.
