Postdoctoral fellowship (EXPIRED)

The Center for Advanced Studies SOCRATES is looking for Postdoctoral Fellows for all or part of the academic year 2023/24 to come to Hannover for a visiting fellowship and contribute with their research to our work on trust, trustworthiness, and credibility as they relate to science and expertise.

Postdoctoral Fellows must have completed their PhD and have demonstrable research experience on the topics mentioned. The Center is based at the Institute of Philosophy of Leibniz University but has an interdisciplinary focus. In addition to applications from philosophers we are interested in researchers contributing to the topic of credibility of science from the perspectives of sociology, psychology, communication sciences, and related fields.

Fellowships can range from several months up to one academic year. We provide financial compensation in the form of stipends comparable to the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation's Postdoctoral Research Fellowship and in addition pay a fixed allowance for accommodation costs and cover travel expenses.

The Center for Advanced Studies SOCRATES (Social Credibility and Trustworthiness of Expert Knowledge and Science-Based Information), directed by Mathias Frisch and Torsten Wilholt, is funded by a grant from the German Research Foundation (DFG) for an initial period of four years (starting in October of 2023), hosting up to six fellows at any given time.
