Job description

Pitzer College seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Philosophy at the level of assistant professor. We are interested in candidates whose work engages philosophical traditions outside of Anglo-American Philosophy (for example, in Latin American Philosophy, Indigenous Philosophy, African Philosophy, Asian Philosophy, or Continental European Philosophy), and who have a focus on ethics or social and political philosophy (including philosophy of race, sex, and gender). In addition to teaching philosophy courses, the candidate would be expected to regularly teach a writing-intensive seminar for first-year students. For the successful applicant with the relevant interests, affiliations are possible with the intercollegiate departments of Environmental Analysis, Media Studies, Africana Studies, Asian American Studies, Chican@/Latin@ Studies, Data Science, and/or the Intercollegiate Feminist Center for Teaching, Research, and Engagement.

Compensation range: $88,000 – $92,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
