The Department of Philosophy seeks a full-time Assistant Professor or Instructor (ABD) for a tenure-track position, beginning September 2024, in AOS: Philosophy of Science and Technology and/or Ethics of Science and Technology, AOC: Open, but willing and able to teach one section of Introduction to Modern Logic annually. The successful candidate will be expected to teach one winter term every other year and will also contribute regularly to the college-wide curriculum, which includes but is not limited to the first-year seminar program. In addition to a robust scholarly program, the successful candidate will have broad pilosophical interests and will be a dynamic and engaging teacher committted to working with students with a variety of academic perspectives, social identities, and life experiences. Candidates should provide evidence of both scholarly potential and a commitment to exceptional teaching within a liberal arts college environment, including contributing to the advancement of diversity, equity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging in the classroom.

Additionally, applications must include a statement of teaching interests and titles of 4 courses (in addition to "Introduction to Logic") that the candidate would be interested in teaching, as well as a separate, one-page statement addressing how the candidate's teaching, scholarship, mentorship, and/or community service demonstrate a commitement to and/or evidence of engaging with issues of diversity and inclusion broadly speaking and/or with respect to the discipline of philosophy. For ABD candidates, the expected graduation date must be specified and addressed.
