Job description

The Department of Philosophy at Stanford University seeks applicants for an appointment in Logic. This is an open-rank search; the appointment may be at the rank of Assistant Professor (on the tenure-track), Associate Professor (with tenure), or Full Professor. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in a related field by the time of employment, and will be expected to teach and advise students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The term of appointment is expected to begin on September 1, 2024.

Of particular interest will be candidates whose research profile exemplifies a broad and forward-looking approach to logic and its applications, across philosophy and allied disciplines.

  • a research statement (no more than three single-spaced pages)
  • a teaching statement (no more than one single-spaced page)
  • two scholarly publications and/or well-developed papers
  • Applicants for Assistant rank positions should submit three letters of reference.
  • Applicants for Associate and Full Professor ranks should submit three names of references (complete with addresses and phone numbers). We will request letters of recommendation for a short list of finalists only.

The salary range for this position is $105,000 – $280,161, for academic year 2024–25.

Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the qualifications of the selected candidate, budget availability, and internal equity.
