APA Blog Call for applications – Series Editors for Navigating (Living) Philosophy and Reports from Abroad Blog series.

The APA Blog is looking for two volunteer, remote Series Editors for the Navigating (Living) Philosophy

and Reports from AbroadBlog series. Please see below for more information on each series.

Series editors are responsible for publishing about one post per month for one of these two series by:

• Soliciting for posts

• Submitting posts to the managing editor through WordPress

• Managing contributor communications

All Series Editors are trained by the Blog of APA. Series Editors hold voluntary positions that provide a great opportunity to build a network in philosophy. Series editors must be members of the APA in good standing.

If you are interested in being considered, submit a letter of interest and CV to

Maryellen Stohlman-Vanderveen at [email protected] with the subject line “Series Editor Application: [title of series].” Please explain in your statement why you are interested in editing the selected series along with identifying relevant experience. Feel free to include ideas which might be elaborated upon in the selection process. If you do not include the relevant application materials, your application will be immediately dismissed.

Applications are due Wednesday, September 27. It is highly recommended that you review previous posts in the series before submitting your application.

Navigating (Living) Philosophy

This series invites seasoned philosophers to share critical reflections on emergent and institutionalized shapes of and encounters within philosophy. The series collects experience-based explorations of philosophy’s personal, institutional, and disciplinary evolution that will also help young academics and students navigate philosophy today.

Reports from Abroad

This series questions and complicates what ‘reporting from abroad’ can mean in a globalized world that faces interconnected and local crises alongside forces grappling with how to liberate our beings from oppressive structures rooted in past and present (neo)colonialism and imperialism. We can take this as a chance to collectively and constructively consider both broader and different conceptions of philosophy than those more widely studied within USA institutions and culture—and the conditions that shape such studies around the globe by APA-related thinkers. We can learn how local institutions and global contexts shape the possibilities of research, speech, and our visions of philosophy.
