Ref: DHP006A Discipline / Area: Philosophy Position Type: Part-time University Grade Structure: Grade 6 Salary From: £30,424 Salary To: £36,298 Job Summary: School of Divinity, History and Philosophy looks to appoint a Part Time Teaching Fellow in Philosophy within the School of Divinity, History and Philosophy for the academic session 2013/14. This post will be offered for a period of 24 months from 1 September 2013 to 31 August 2015 at 50% FTE. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Philosophy or related subject with expertise in Moral and Political Philosophy and will be expected to co-ordinate and deliver two Hons courses also contributing to sub-Hons tutorial teaching. The successful candidate will also be required to liaise with support staff and engage in: monitoring student attendance; provide student support; supervise student projects; develop course materials; assist with outreach and student recruitment and advising activities. Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale (salary of £30,122 - £38,598 per annum pro rata), with placement according to qualifications and experience. The School of Divinity, History and Philosophy continues to flourish as an established centre of excellence in the study of religion, biblical, theological, philosophical and historical studies. Its ambitions and achievements reflect one of the most vigorous research cultures within the University. In the most recent RAE2008, Divinity and Religious Studies in Aberdeen ranked first in Scotland and second in the UK in the Times Higher Education tables. It continues to host one of the largest postgraduate populations within the University, and provides high quality undergraduate programmes within the University’s recent reformed curriculum. This post is not on the current "shortage occupation" list and does not meet the minimum qualification requirements as issued by the Border and Immigration Agency therefore it will not qualify for a work permit.
