Anticipated Term of Appointment: Two consecutive terms; September 1, 2013, April 30, 2014
Anticipated Appointment Effort: Part-time 26.80 hours; 67% effort; 2 courses per term. This is a two-term, non-renewable, non-tenure track position.

Responsibilities*

The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts and the Department of Philosophy at the University of Michigan invite applications for a LEO Lecturer I position for the Academic Year 2013-2014. 

The successful applicant will provide key instructional support for the major in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). He or she will teach 2 courses each academic term, including:

F13: PPE 400, The Capstone course for the PPE concentration, a senior seminar suited to students who have had extensive training in both the normative and descriptive dimensions of philosophy and the social sciences.

PHIL 286, A sophomore seminar addressing philosophical issues connected with psychology and psychoanalysis.

W14: PPE 300/PHIL 366: Political Economy. This course addresses the integrated study of the relationships of government, political processes, property, production, markets, trade, and distribution from the standpoint of assessing these arrangements with respect to the interests and progress of humanity. The 'Gateway' course for the PPE major. 

Also in W14: An undergraduate seminar on one of: political theory, practical reasoning, or action theory. 

Required Qualifications*

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in philosophy, or a closely related field, and have expertise not only in philosophy but also in at least one of the social sciences embraced by the PPE concentration. The candidate must have demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching in the United States.

Desired Qualifications*

Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching in a PPE curriculum.
