Job description |
The Department of Philosophy and Religion is seeking to hire an assistant professor, tenure track, who specializes in philosophy of law. The successful candidate will have a philosophical research program and promise that corresponds with Clemson University’s Carnegie R1 designation. The department seeks candidates with broad philosophical interests who can teach across, and contribute to expanding, the offerings of our undergraduate program. The typical course load is 2/2. The department seeks candidates with broad philosophical training as well as skill and interest in teaching across, and contributing to expanding, the offerings of our undergraduate program. The department has teaching interests in these areas: the history of philosophy, continental philosophy, aesthetics, logic and philosophy of language, metaphysics, and epistemology. Founded in 1889, Clemson is a highly ranked public university and land grant institution with more than 28,000 students in over 200 degree programs. Located in the rapidly growing Upstate area of South Carolina, the city of Clemson provides a college-town setting on the shores of Lake Hartwell, near both the scenic foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the metropolitan areas of Greenville-Spartanburg, SC; Asheville and Charlotte, NC; and Atlanta, GA. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Philosophy in hand by August 15, 2024, and be able to supply evidence of effective teaching and a solid research program.
