Job description |
The Department of Philosophy at Assumption University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek applicants well-versed across the history of philosophy, articulate about the nature and importance of liberal education and the Catholic intellectual tradition, and dedicated to deepening and broadening their learning through teaching, scholarship, and collegiality. The successful applicant will teach philosophy courses in our core curriculum, including an introduction to philosophy and some of our secondary courses in ethics, philosophical anthropology, philosophy of nature, and philosophy of God. The successful candidate will also be able to teach more advanced courses in our major and minor programs. Our courses are anchored in a selection of primary sources from the philosophical tradition. Requirements Ph.D. expected prior to appointment. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence, as well as active and promising scholarly achievement. Area of specialization and areas of competence are open; 4/3 course load; undergraduate; usual non-teaching duties; competitive salary and benefits. Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University. |
