The Center for Science and Thought (CST) is an interdisciplinary platform designed to address urgent questions that arise at the intersection of philosophy and various natural and technical sciences.
Starting at earliest possible convenience and limited until 28/02/2026, the CST is seeking a
Postdoc Research Associate (100%)
to work on the KI.NRW-flagship project “Zertifizierte KI” (Certified AI). Together with its project partners, the team of the CST is researching test methods for the certification of trustworthy artificial intelligence systems. The aim of the overall project is to develop procedures to examine generally accepted standards for AI systems and their verification, as well as to explore business models for an AI certification. To this end, interlinked catalogs of requirements with technical, legal and ethical-philosophical criteria are formulated. The theoretical basis for this is provided by a social ontology of AI. The double autonomy of AI and the applied concept of intelligence constitute a special research focus. In order to make this philosophical basis operationalizable in the certification's context, use cases of AI applications have been analyzed and categorized according to ethically relevant parameters.
The University of Bonn is committed to diversity and equal opportunity. It is certified as a family-friendly university. It aims to increase the proportion of women in areas where women are under-represented and to promote their careers in particular. It therefore urges women with relevant qualifications to apply.
