The Department of Philosophy and Religion at Western Carolina University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track appointment in philosophy at the assistant professor level, to begin August 1, 2024. We are a small department that values collegiality, emphasizes the intersections of philosophy and religious studies, and contributes heavily to the university’s general education curriculum. We seek a colleague with a commitment to creating classes that are welcoming, accessible, and valuable to students with varied backgrounds and interests. The position carries a 3/3 teaching load along with typical scholarship, service and advising expectations. The successful applicant will teach multiple sections per year of “Biomedical Ethics and Social Justice,” a required course in the university’s Integrated Health Sciences Program (ihs.wcu.edu). Ability to teach in other areas that complement our current strengths will be also considered.
