The Department of Philosophy and Religion at Western Carolina University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track appointment in philosophy at the assistant professor level, to begin August 1, 2024. We are a small department that values collegiality, emphasizes the intersections of philosophy and religious studies, and contributes heavily to the university’s general education curriculum. We seek a colleague with a commitment to creating classes that are welcoming, accessible, and valuable to students with varied backgrounds and interests.

The position carries a 3/3 teaching load along with typical scholarship, service and advising expectations. Ability to teach in other areas that complement our current strengths will be also considered.

Western Carolina University holds inclusive excellence and belonging as a core value, and the Department of Philosophy and Religion works to make this tangible in a community of mutual respect and support for faculty, staff, and student alike.
