The Department of Philosophy at Colorado State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Animal Ethics. Applicants must have doctorate in hand by August 16, 2024, evidence of active research agenda and teaching competence in animal ethics. The Department seeks an excellent teacher with a strong research agenda, with a preference for candidates who are interested in engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration. The current teaching load is 4 courses/seminars per year, including courses in AOS. Undergraduate and graduate teaching are required, including introductory level courses in philosophy.

The Department of Philosophy houses three undergraduate concentrations (General Philosophy, Global Philosophies, and Philosophy, Science, and Technology) and a terminal M.A. program. Our M.A. students have diverse backgrounds, including students without undergraduate degrees in philosophy. Faculty members serve as thesis advisors for M.A. theses and occasionally theses at the undergraduate level. The department hosts regular colloquia and other events, including the Bernard Rollin Memorial Lecture in Animal Ethics and the Distinguished Lecture in Environmental Ethics.
