Assistant Professor (EXPIRED)

The Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY seeks to fill a tenure-eligible faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Epistemology. This is a 9-month position in the regular title series with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2024. The successful applicant will teach four courses per year (two per semester), including both undergraduate and graduate levels. Other duties will include graduate advising and departmental and university service. The Area of Specialization is epistemology, with special attention given to candidates with research or teaching interests in digital epistemology, the philosophy of artificial intelligence, and/or data ethics. The successful candidate will be expected to help develop a course in one or more of these areas as well as to teach undergraduate courses in logic and metaphysics/epistemology, and graduate courses in epistemology. The UK Philosophy Department is a pluralistic department open to diverse approaches in philosophy. The successful applicant will strengthen existing interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary partnerships across the College and University and will build new partnerships with university-wide initiatives that emphasize artificial intelligence, data ethics, and digital epistemology. A Ph.D. in Philosophy by Aug 1, 2024 is required.
