The Department of Philosophy within the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking to appoint a non-tenure-track Teaching Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2024. Initial appointment will be for a term of three years with the possibility of renewal. The position offers state health benefits and the opportunity to join our active, vigorous, and welcoming philosophical community. The successful candidate will be expected to teach six courses per year, five of which will fall under UNC’s “Communicating Beyond Carolina” (CBC) general education requirement. CBC courses aim to prepare students to persuasively convey knowledge, ideas, and information to a variety of audiences across different mediums and to promote careful listening, effective communication, and collaboration. We have a special interest in applicants with demonstrated teaching excellence. The successful candidate will also have an active and promising research program in their area(s) of philosophical specialization.
