University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA. Tenured/tenure stream faculty position in the Department of Philosophy, pending budgetary approval. Proposed starting date is September 1, 2024. Area of Specialization: History of Philosophy, with special interest in Modern Philosophy. The department does not currently have needs in ancient Greek or Roman philosophy. Rank: Open Responsibilities: Undergraduate and graduate teaching, and regular departmental duties. Tenured applicants should submit a CV with a list of publications and a list of references. Untenured applicants should submit a CV (including a dissertation abstract or research statement), letters of recommendation, evidence of teaching ability, and a writing sample. In addition, applicants are expected to provide a brief personal statement that addresses their contributions to diversity through research, teaching, service and/or community engagement. Please mention any past contributions as well as any planned or potential contributions. Required Qualifications Full/Associate Professor: (1) A PhD in Philosophy or a closely related field; (2) A record of research excellence as evidenced, e.g., by an active research agenda in philosophy or a closely related field, and a record of high quality publications, academic presentations, or dissertation supervisions within philosophy or a closely related field. Assistant Professor: (1) A PhD in Philosophy or a closely related field expected by the proposed start date; (2) a promising research agenda.
