The College of Engineering at Northeastern University develops the next generation of engineering leaders capable of addressing the complex challenges of the world to make a difference in society. We offer an interdisciplinary, experiential education combining rigorous academics, R1 research, and a top-ranked co-op program.

Successful faculty in this role will be dynamic and innovative scholars with a record of research and teaching excellence.  We are strongly committed to fostering excellence through diversity, and enthusiastically welcome nominations and applications from members of groups underrepresented in academia. Strong candidates for this position will have the expertise, knowledge, and skills to build their research, pedagogy, and curriculum in ways that reflect a commitment to improved equity, diversity, and inclusion.

The College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) and the College of Engineering (COE) at Northeastern University invite applications and nominations for Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor positions in the area of engineering, technology and/or design ethics. The candidates filling these positions will be jointly appointed between CSSH (primary appointment) and COE (secondary appointment). They will be responsible for helping to develop and deliver a robust engineering and design ethics curriculum, including teaching technology and engineering ethics courses and integrating ethics content into foundational and advanced level COE courses. They will also contribute ethics education expertise to interdisciplinary projects and proposals. The successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in pedagogy, as well as evidence of experience and achievement in undergraduate ethics education.

These are untenured, but continuing and tracked positions with the possibility of promotion to Associate and Full Teaching Professor, as well as multi-year (3 year and 5 year) contracts.

Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments as well as to promoting experiential learning, which are central to a Northeastern University education.

A Ph.D. in Philosophy, Science and Technology Studies (STS) or a related field in hand by the appointment start date is required.

Describe how your teaching, service, research, and/or leadership (as applicable) has supported the success of students and/or colleagues; and/or describe the impact others have had on you as relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Questions should be addressed to Dr. Vance Ricks, search committee chair, [email protected].
